Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Physicians: increasing Personal Resilience and Introduction to Clinical Applications
This 2-day workshop introduces participants to Mindfulness Based Cognitive Strategies for Personal and Professional resilience. We will explore our relationship to and the content of our thinking and how this may exacerbate stress and negative states. We will examine modes of mind that often characterize changes in mood and anxiety, teaching a new relationship to these modes. This workshop introduces healthcare providers to the clinical applications of this therapy. Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention in the present moment. It may reduce emotional reactivity and negative thinking, increasing choice about how to respond to difficult situations. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy examines the content and process of negative thoughts, challenging and restructuring them to enhance healthy functioning.
